Cesar Chemical Spain launches chemical products made from recycled raw materials and biomass

Recently, Spain's Cepsa Quimica (Cepsa Quimica, hereinafter referred to as "Cepsa Quimica") launched the first new series of sustainable chemical products: NextLAB and NextPhenol. This range of products is made from renewable or recyclable raw materials and is mainly used in the production of cleaning agents and engineering plastics products. The launch of the new range of products not only enables Cesar to achieve its long-term goal of developing a non-fossil energy business, but also helps its customers to be more sustainable in terms of products and production processes.
Cesar Chemical is one of the world's leading producers of LAB (Linear Alkyl Benzene) and Phenol (Phenol). LAB is mainly used in the production of biodegradable household washing and cleaning products. Phenol is widely used in the automotive, construction and pharmaceutical industries as a raw material for the production of engineering plastics, nylon, polycarbonate, methyl methacrylate (MMA) and coatings.
Jose Maria Cuadro, Head of ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) and HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality) at Cesar Chemical said: “We have now developed a plan to promote the company’s non-fossil energy business and achieve long-term sustainability. The goal of sustainable development. We focus not only on our own production process, energy consumption and supply chain, but also on replacing traditional fossil energy with renewable raw materials and recycled waste raw materials.”
Product Specifications
Jose Maria Cuadro further stated: “The new range of products sold under the NextLAB and NextPhenol brands contain at least 68% sustainable (or alternative) carbon sources according to the mass balance method, but the molecular composition of the final product is different from other products previously on the market. There is no difference in the product. The only difference is that the raw materials derived from recycled waste and biomass replace the previously used fossil energy. On the basis of ensuring that the new product specifications, performance and applications are basically the same, still comply with the requirements of the EU REACH regulation. We It is also necessary to adapt the production process for additional processing based on renewable and recyclable raw materials.”
From a product production point of view, Cesar Chemical's customers will not notice any difference between traditional and new products, and it can improve the efficiency of the processing system. In addition to this, the biggest benefit of the new series is that it can help Customers improve the sustainability of their products and production processes, thereby reducing the ecological footprint that buyers and consumers are more concerned about.
International Sustainability and Carbon Certification
The new range of NextLAB and NextPhenol products will be produced in Cadiz and Huelva, Spain, as well as at the Cesar chemical plants in Shanghai, which are currently being demonstrated through the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC Plus) related standards. The ISCC Plus certificate certifies that a company complies with globally recognized requirements for ecology, sustainability, and voluntary GHG emissions reduction and traceability. To produce ISCC Plus compliant Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) and Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid (LABSA) products, the Cesar Chemical plants in Detén, Brazil and Bécancour, Canada are also Preparation of ISCC Plus certification to meet LAB and LABSA production standards.
Cesar Chemical's next move
Cesar Chemical will continue to expand the production of sustainable raw materials and sustainable product portfolio in the next few years, on the one hand, based on Cesar Chemical's high emphasis on product and production process innovation and sustainability, on the other hand, it will also benefit from Cesar Chemical The Detal technology jointly developed by Chemical and Universal Oil Products (UOP) provides technical support for the development of new products.
