Xinjiang Yihua plans to build 100,000 tons of BDO and 100,000 tons of PBAT

It was reported on April 25 that Xinjiang Yihua Chemical Co., Ltd. plans to build a coal-based chemical new material and fine chemical project in Caibei Industrial Park, Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone, Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang, and the project has passed the record. Xinjiang Yihua is a 19.9% subsidiary of Hubei Yihua. So far, the national BDO planned production capacity has exceeded 18 million tons.

It was previously reported on March 17 that the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region held a commencement ceremony for the centralized resumption of major projects in the first quarter of 2022. Xinjiang Yihua's 80,000-ton melamine project and the "source-grid-load-storage integration" demonstration project participated in the ceremony at the Changji branch venue (see the picture below).

During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Xinjiang Yihua plans to invest 20 billion yuan to build new coal-based chemical materials and fine chemicals projects. Among them, the 80,000-ton melamine project is the first phase. Xinjiang Yihua's existing 80,000 tons of melamine has been put into production in 2015, using the high-pressure urea decomposition technology of Italy's European technology company. In the next five to ten years, Xinjiang Yihua plans to develop 1 million tons of melamine.

The project that has passed the filing this time has a total investment of about 21.463 billion yuan. It will invest in the construction of industrial clusters based on coal-to-methanol and coal-to-synthesis ammonia, supporting downstream industries such as melamine, BDO, DMC, DMF, and PBAT. The project construction period is from April 2022 to December 2025.

The construction contents of Xinjiang Yihua include:

1. Using coal as raw material, build a melamine production plant with an annual output of 5 × 80,000 tons, ancillary equipment such as tail gas recovery, and downstream plants such as 300,000 tons of triamine resin;

2. The acetylene aldehyde production process is adopted, and formaldehyde and acetylene are used as raw materials to build an annual output of 100,000 tons of BDO and supporting production equipment; the production process of direct lipidation and continuous polycondensation is adopted, and BDO, PTA and AA are used as the main raw materials. Produce 2×50,000 tons of PBAT and supporting production equipment;

3. Adopt CO one-step production process, with methylamine and CO as the main raw materials, to build a 200,000-ton DMF production plant and a supporting 250,000-ton methylamine production plant;

4. Adopt urea two-step production process, with urea and methanol as the main raw materials, to build a DMC production plant with an annual output of 100,000 tons;

5. At the same time, it is equipped with an annual output of 600,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, 700,000 tons of combined alcohol, 1.32 million tons of urine production equipment, 200,000 tons of CO2 liquefaction equipment; 3 × 550t/h coal-fired boilers and related public works.

Xinjiang Yihua Chemical Co., Ltd. was registered and established in Jimsar County, Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang in March 2010. Construction started in July 2010, and the first phase of the project was completed and put into operation in March 2013. The company has total assets of 15.6 billion yuan, more than 3,500 employees, and a total area of 327.15 hectares. The annual production capacity of membrane caustic soda, 300,000 tons of PVC, and 1 million tons of calcium carbide slag cement has formed a circular economy industrial park integrating coal, electricity and chemical.

Xinjiang Yihua Chemical Co., Ltd. is a joint venture established by Yichang Xinfa Industrial Investment Co., Ltd. (80.1% of the shares) and Hubei Yihua Chemical Co., Ltd. (19.9% of the shares). Hubei Yihua previously planned to build 180,000 tons of PBAT, and the first phase of 60,000 tons is scheduled to be put into production in December 2022.
