Recently, Sinopec and Zhejiang Yuanjin New Materials Co., Ltd. signed a 300,000-ton/year hydrogen peroxide production propylene oxide (HPPO) complete technology (including alcohol ether recovery) license contract. Sinopec will be responsible for providing patent/proprietary technology licenses, process design packages, patented equipment, technical training and services, as well as supporting proprietary catalysts and additives to support the efficient implementation of the Zhejiang Yuanjin alkane resource comprehensive utilization project and achieve green and low-carbon development Target. This is the second time that Sinopec's HPPO technology has achieved out-of-system technology license after the promotion of 300,000 tons/year HPPO technology of North Huajin United Petrochemical.

HPPO technology is an advanced technology encouraged by the national industrial policy, which helps to improve the utilization efficiency of propylene resources and extend the downstream industry chain. The rapid development injects new kinetic energy. After nearly 20 years of technical research, Sinopec's complete set of HPPO technology has completely independent intellectual property rights.



100,000 tons/year HPPO method propylene oxide plant

In December 2014, Sinopec Changling Branch adopted this technology to build the first 100,000-ton/year HPPO industrial plant in China, and realized long-term full-load safe and stable operation, with a 100% high-quality product rate.

In November 2018, the complete set of 100,000 tons/year HPPO production technology for propylene oxide passed the technical appraisal of Sinopec Organization. The review experts believe that the overall technology of the process has reached the international advanced level, and the catalyst technology and material consumption are at the international leading level.

In August 2020, the 300,000 tons/year HPPO technical process package passed the technical appraisal. In September 2021, Sinopec's 300,000 t/a HPPO process package successfully licensed North Huajin, the first license for companies outside the system.

In January 2022, the 100,000-ton/year HPPO-based propylene oxide project won the first prize of Sinopec Science and Technology Progress Award.

Up to now, Sinopec's HPPO complete sets of technologies have been industrially implemented and licensed for 4 sets, and the total licensed production capacity of propylene oxide has reached 1 million tons/year, ranking first in the world in terms of promotion quantity and scale. In addition, many domestic and foreign customers are conducting technical exchanges and business negotiations with Sinopec on the complete set of HPPO technology. Sinopec's HPPO technology will continue to make efforts in the future to help domestic propylene oxide production in a clean and efficient manner.
