Repsol will invest more than EUR 18 million in a polyol plant located in its Tarragona Industrial Park to expand Alcupol's range of high-quality polymer polyols. This investment demonstrates the multi-energy company's clear commitment to meeting the needs of its customers in the flexible polyurethane industry, particularly comfort and automotive applications such as mattresses, furniture and car seating. In addition, this investment will expand the range of high value-added products while maximizing production capacity.

The bulk of the investment will go towards installing a second reactor on the line at the current polymer polyol plant. Construction began in April last year and production is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2023.

In addition, this facility will use new technologies developed by scientists at the Repsol Technology Laboratory. As a result, the process is optimized and the properties of the foam, as well as the stiffness and tensile properties, are improved to meet the requirements of high-end applications.
