Pearl Polyurethane, the largest material portfolio company in the MENA region with a growing international customer base, has rebranded its entire portfolio of polyurethane materials for insulation applications as EcoPearl, following the launch of a groundbreaking new low-lambda insulation product this month.

The newly renamed EcoPearl range of existing products covers a wide range of applications, from metal sandwich panels and prefabricated insulated pipes, to spray foam insulation for commercial and residential, and other insulation applications such as appliances and water heaters, all of which can be manufactured by Pearl Polyurethane according to specific end-user requirements.

A low lambda value refers to the thermal conductivity of an insulating material, which is a measure of its ability to block a specific thickness of heat from passing through under specified conditions. As the lambda value decreases, the thermal performance of the material increases.”

In developing this new product, the Pearl Polyurethane R&D team kept sustainability goals in mind, addressing a range of issues, such as how to more effectively employ environmentally friendly fourth-generation blowing agents, pentane and other blending agents to dramatically improve Thermal insulation while ensuring economy remains.

After nearly nine months of work by the company's R&D team, this breakthrough low-lambda product completed client machine testing earlier this year and is now ready for release.

The main advantages of the new product are: compared to current regional industry standards, polyurethane metal interlayer insulation panels provide up to 20% higher thermal insulation performance (depending on the use of the application) and achieve the highest flame retardant levels suitable for FM Approval. Importantly, new product formulations can be delivered to customers with two pre-mixed ingredients, meaning insulation board manufacturers can utilize existing factories and production lines to produce new low-lambda products, avoiding the need for new equipment or upgrades Large investment in equipment.

As the world's first independent materials company to develop a low-lambda core material for continuous metal sandwich panel products, Pearl Polyurethane's R&D team was recently awarded the 2021 Innovative Insulation Project of the Year Award for its R&D initiatives.
