Validated by Pony Testing Group (PONY) that Polyurethane (PU) Foam Meets Stringent Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Standards
Improved flame retardancy in compliance with new regulations from 2018 (JTT 1095-2016*)
Shanghai, China – May 27, 2022 – BASF’s water-foaming polyurethane (PU) spray foam insulation material is now used in the latest models of Shanghai Jinlong United Automotive Industry (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Suzhou Jinlong) in China on the bus. Suzhou Jinlong, a leading passenger car manufacturer in China, and its parts supplier, Changzhou Tianshun Auto Parts Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Changzhou Tianshun), jointly developed with BASF the 100% all-water foamed open-cell polyurethane foam Elastoflex® CE 3651/ 108. Polyurethane foams that meet stringent volatile organic compound (VOC) standards provide better interior air quality for public transport, as verified by Pony Testing Group (PONY) test reports.

The high flame retardant properties of Elastoflex CE 3651/108 also meet the JTT 1095-2016 transportation industry standard, that is, the limiting oxygen index (LOI**) of interior and flame retardant materials for operating passenger cars is higher than 28%.
"This is the first time BASF has developed a low-odor spray foam system based on flame retardant (FR) technology and meets more stringent resistance requirements," said Desmond Long, vice president of BASF's Asia Pacific Performance Materials Transportation Division. Fuel requirements. We also support our partners in spray foam processing to optimize cost and finished product performance.”
* JTT 1095-2016: People's Republic of China Transportation Industry Standard. This standard specifies the technical requirements and test methods for the flame retardant properties of interior materials for commercial passenger cars. This standard is applicable to the evaluation of flame retardancy of interior materials of operating passenger cars.
** LOI: Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) is the minimum oxygen concentration (usually expressed as the percentage of A standard for determining the relative flammability of materials.
